The Feldenkrais Method is an innovative system that approaches human development and the improvement of functioning through the medium of physical movement and directed attention. The system consists of two parts: Awareness through Movement and Functional Integration.
Awareness through Movement consists of gentle, verbally guided movement sequences, each organized around a different theme, often practiced in a group setting.
Functional Integration is a one-to-one approach where learning, change and improvement are achieved through the use of skilled manipulation and passive movement specific for individual needs.

Literally translated, karate means “empty hand”, which means a majority of the skills we learn are with our hands (and feet). Karate is a martial art, which is sometimes used as a sport, for self-defense or its principles as a way of life (Karate-Do).
IKL (International Karate League) is an organization of dojos (schools) from the Hawaiian Islands, California, Minnesota, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Missouri, and North Carolina. Walter K. Nishioka Shihan is the founder and chief instructor of the IKL. He resides in Hawaii and is very active in teaching and developing the organization he has created. There is also a governing board and regions in which the states belong creating a very well organized association.
IKL will build and nurture character, self-discipline, loyalty, and respect. It will encourage honesty, sincerity, effort and etiquette.
The style of karate IKL teaches is a modified Shorin-Ryu. Nishioka Shihan has studied other forms of martial arts including White Crane Kung Fu, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, Shotokan Karate and Wado-Ryu Karate. He has taken the best of these styles and incorporated them into IKL Karate.
Karate is one of the best types of exercise for the body and the mind. It can be strenuous at times, however, it is adaptable to one’s physical limitations. The physical and mental skills learned can be applied to any sport or daily activity. It will improve strength, endurance, and flexibility.
